What are the standard GST rates in India?

What is the difference between inclusive and exclusive GST?

Inclusive GST: the displayed price already contains GST (used in B2C retail). Exclusive GST: GST is added on top of the listed price (used in B2B invoicing). The calculator does both.

How is CGST + SGST + IGST split?

Intra-state supply: CGST + SGST split equally (e.g., 18% = 9% CGST + 9% SGST). Inter-state supply: full amount as IGST (18%). The calculator surfaces both splits.

Is GST applicable on home loans?

GST is NOT applicable on the loan principal or interest. It IS applicable at 18% on the processing fee, legal fee, and valuation charges. For a Rs 50L loan with 1% processing fee, GST adds Rs 9K.

Can I claim Input Tax Credit (ITC) on personal expenses?

Generally no — ITC is restricted to GST-registered businesses for goods/services used in business. Personal-use purchases do not qualify.

What is the reverse charge mechanism (RCM)?

Under RCM, the recipient (instead of supplier) pays GST. Common cases: legal services from advocates, services from unregistered suppliers above Rs 5K/day. Most B2C consumers do not encounter RCM.
