Frequently Asked Questions

Everything About Loan Health Scores

Answers to the most common questions about checking and optimizing your loan.

What is a Loan Health Score?

A Loan Health Score is a 0-100 rating that compares your current loan rate with published comparison rates. A higher score means your rate is closer to the comparison range, while a lower score indicates that a lender may quote a lower rate for some eligible profiles.

How is the Loan Health Score calculated?

We compare your current interest rate against the lowest published starting rate in the current dataset from 15 major banks for your loan type. The score factors in the rate difference: within 0.25% of the comparison rate scores 90-100 (Excellent), within 0.50% scores 70-89 (Good), within 1.00% scores 50-69 (Fair), and anything above 1.00% scores below 50 (Poor to Critical). Actual lender offers vary by profile and assessment.

What should I do if my score is below 50?

A score below 50 means your current rate is well above the published comparison rates in this tool. A balance transfer may be worth comparing, but fees, paperwork, valuation, approval, and disbursement depend on the lender and your case. An advisor can explain the available steps.

Does switching my loan (balance transfer) affect my credit score?

A balance transfer does not normally affect your credit score by itself, but lender credit checks and a new account can affect your profile. A lower EMI may make timely payments easier; confirm the implications with your lender.

How much does it cost to do a balance transfer?

Many lenders charge a processing fee for balance transfers, but the amount and other costs vary. Compare the lender's current fees with any estimated interest reduction before deciding; potential savings depend on your loan and the offer.

Are the bank rates shown here accurate?

The tool uses published rates in its current dataset from 15 major banks including SBI, HDFC, ICICI, Axis, Kotak, Bank of Baroda, PNB, and others. Rates shown are minimum published starting rates; they are indicative, and your actual rate may vary based on your profile, loan amount, and the bank's assessment.

Can self-employed people also benefit from this tool?

Yes. The tool works for both salaried and self-employed individuals. Self-employed borrowers may receive different rates, and potential savings depend on how their current rate compares with the published rates available for their profile.

How often should I check my Loan Health Score?

We recommend checking every 6 months, or whenever the RBI announces a repo rate change. Interest rates in India fluctuate based on RBI policy, and banks frequently revise their lending rates. What was a competitive rate a year ago may no longer be optimal.
