FAQ

What is the RBI Digital Lending Guidelines (2022)?
Issued 02 Sep 2022, this is the first binding rule-set for digital lending in India. It mandates a Key Facts Statement (KFS) for every borrower, bans automatic credit-line increases without consent, requires a cooling-off window, and forces disclosure of LSP and DLA arrangements.
Are DSAs regulated directly by the RBI?
Not as standalone licensees. DSAs operate under the lender's umbrella per the 2006 Outsourcing of Financial Services circular and must follow the IBA Model Code of Conduct: identification, no harassment, KFS pre-disbursal, complaint logging.
Does the DPDP Act 2023 apply to loan DSAs?
Yes. As data fiduciaries handling personal financial data, DSAs must obtain explicit consent, support data principal rights (access, correction, erasure), and maintain breach notification capability per the August 2023 DPDP Act.
How often does Money Matrix Hub update this tracker?
We update this tracker when the RBI issues a circular or master direction that affects borrowers, digital lending, KYC or loan advisers. For the latest notifications, check rbi.org.in directly.
